UPRISE! Educational Sessions | Power Exchange Track
Black Leather: A History of People of Color in BDSM and Leather | Friday/1:15 - 2:45 pm

Presenter | Sir Guy
Session Description | When we hear of the histories of BDSM and Leather, the conversations often go to the early white gay male community or some European houses, but the fact of the matter is, just like American history, People of Color have had a long and storied history in the BDSM and Leather communities, not just as participants but as leaders. This history is rich and needs to be explored. Sir Guy will be your tour guide as we take the first steps into exploring various aspects of the histories of People of Color in Leather and BDSM.
Presenter Bio | I am a proud Dominant Leatherman with a deep love for my history, my culture, and my heritage. My goal is to educate people about BDSM to remove some of the stigma, and to support others in the lifestyle.
I have contributed to several lifestyle books and been interviewed by various media outlets on BDSM.
I hold the 2012 New York Metro Power Exchange & 2013 International Power Exchange titles, and won the 2014 Beyond Leather Community Achievement Award. Most recently I received the 2020 Masters And slaves Together(MAsT) International Presenter of the Year award.
I hope to embody the credo taught to me by Mama Vi Johnson and Reverend Lady D Harrison, "Each one, teach one."
Recognizing and Addressing Abandonment Issues in S-types | Friday/3:00 - 4:30 pm

Presenter | Coco
Session Description | Surrender demands a level of trust that can sometimes feel inaccessible to s-types with histories of abandonment. This can pose a significant barrier to the development of a healthy dynamic. The first step is to generate discourse on the topic. Count on this presentation to dive deep into the mechanics of unresolved abandonment, how it shows up in M/s relationships and discuss concrete steps to resolution.
Presenter Bio | Coco

She considers MAsT: Laurel her “home” chapter, and also regularly attends MAsT: Metro NY and MAsT: DC Pan when it’s not a school night! She was the founder and Coordinator of the POC Special Interest Group for the Baltimore Educational and Social Society (BESS) as well as the secretary of BESS from 2018-2020. Her roots in the community may be new, but they are strong! She hopes to continue nurturing those relationships and develop new ones as opportunities arise.
